[Korean Vaccine No. 1] ‘Lead by Example’ CEO Ahn Jae-yong, ‘SKYCovione’ as Fourth Vaccination

Mr Ahn Jae-yong, CEO of SK Bioscience (SK Bio), was vaccinated using ‘SKYCovione’, the first Korean Covid-19 vaccine developed by SK Bio as ‘leading by example’.

According to SK Bio, Mr Ahn visited Hansarang Kim Gyeong-hee Pediatrics in Bundang, Gyeonggi-do and was vaccinated with SKYCovione on September 19
SKYCovione is a Covid-19 vaccine that SK Bio has developed based on its global network.

SK Bio has financially supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and collaborated with the Institute for Protein Design, University of Washington, US for this vaccine.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)’s adjuvant AS03 was used to enhance immune response and induce neutralizing antibodies.

An official from SK Bio said, “Global clinical trials conducted in Korea and five other countries have proven superior immunogenicity and safety of SKYCovione compared with the control vaccine upon basic vaccination.

The global clinical trials and analysis of SKYCovione were made possible by the cooperation of the International Vaccine Institute, a non-profit international organization, and the support from the Public Vaccine Development Support Center of the Korea National Institute of Health.
