This year, AI MR solution to be introduced, focusing on upgrade of medical imaging
“Focusing on supporting domestic hospitals and strengthening cooperation with them”
As the first female CEO of GE Healthcare Korea (GE Health) starting from a rookie staff, Ms. Kim Eun-mi (pictured) has made significant progress last year, even as the industry’s business environment shrank due to COVID-19.
Last year, despite the pandemic, she led the company to sales revenue of 283.8 billion won, 17% up year-on-year. During the same period, operating profit increased 18% to 17.1 billion won. Net income was 11.1 billion won.
So, will Ms. Kim be able to deliver the same results this year as she did last year in both sales revenue and operating profit? She was appointed as CEO on August 11, 2021.
This year, GE Health will focus on developing imaging equipment with the goal of building a digital healthcare ecosystem.
According to GE Health on May 18, it has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-based mixed reality (MR) solution for radiology to strengthen collaboration with healthcare providers.
The company said, "As exchange rates and international commodity prices stabilize, net income is also predicted to recover gradually. We are currently focusing on AI precision medicine.
The next-generation MR solution recently introduced in Korea is 'SIGNA Hero'.
SIGNA Hero is also an AI platform just like its flagship product, SIGNA Premier and offers short scan times and high resolution. ‘AIR Recon DL’, an MRI deep learning reconstruction function, is applied.
A customized RF coil, ‘AIR Coil, is also incorporated to provide an optimized environment for hard-to-scan areas of the body, emergency trauma patients, and children.
GE Health explained it promotes collaboration with leading hospitals, healthcare providers, and companies to streamline data utilization, and has partnered with Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital to develop new diagnostic, treatment, and monitoring technologies.
The company will undertake the introduction of a platform optimized for medical AI companies’ R&D based on the ‘Edison Digital Health Platform’, in collaboration with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital.
Based on the company's technology, it plans to build an environment where high-quality medical data are effectively processed, and the analyzed results utilized.
At the recent SIGNA MR Symposium for radiologists, CEO Ms. Kim Eun-mi said, "We will do our best to understand the needs of AI and digital technology and support domestic medical staff who are constantly researching and fostering talent."
